1st Tooth

Jay's new grin

That's right my baby has lost his first tooth. I can't believe it. He was eating dinner and his tooth fell out. He handed it to daddy and we were both shocked to see it was his tooth. I couldn't believe it. He is only 4 yrs. I thought that it was too young, but the dentist said it was a little early but not unheard of. I think it may have gotten loose because he was playing football with his daddy and he said the ball hit his lip. Who knows, either way my baby has lost his first tooth. Can you believe it the tooth fairy and Santa all in one week.

The Graduate

Well the big day finally came. December 17, 2008, Wow its hard believe that Andy is done with school. He received his Bachelors degree in Digital entertainment and video game design. I remember the day he started and the boys were only 3 months old and us saying wow they will be 4 when you graduate and it seemed so far away. Time flies. Even though its been a long four years, it does seem like it just flew by. I am so proud of him and all is accomplishments. He graduated Salutatorian and with high honors. He worked very hard and spent many long sleepless nights working on many assignments and projects. He has really enjoyed all the things he's learned and has made some great friends. The ceremony was very nice and Jay and Logan thought it was so cool to see their dad dressed up funny. We couldn't be more excited about him being done and to see what life has in store for us now. Congratulations Andy. We love you!!!!

Friday Night Fun.

Friday night we went camping. Destination Jay and Logan's room. Lots of blankets and one small tent. We laughed, sang and had fun telling funny stories in the dark. Andy had school that night so we called him to tell him we were having a campout. Jay and Logan really had fun and thought it was really cool. I know its not the mountains, but hey a tent is a tent right.

Jay and Logan's legs hung out the little door but they had plenty of room inside. A couple of times during the night we found them laying so close together that I think they sleep better when they are right next to each other.

A Fantastic Find

This is my new toy and can i just say I love it. My mom and I were driving one day and we were just about home and I saw this fabulous machine sitting on someones driveway and so I turned around to look at it. It had a sign on that said FREE, but just needed a new motor which is about 300 dollars. It was totally clean and didn't have anything missing. I took Andy back and we picked it up. I figured I would save my money to get a new motor or my dad said he could probably have it rebuilt.

Well to my surprise Andy plugged it in and messed with a switch and it works GREAT. No motor needed. YAHOO. I promptly put it in my room and have loved using it. As a lot of you know I am really trying hard to lose weight and exercise regularly. Well I have lost 16 pounds and have really enjoyed exercise with my new machine and also going on bike rides with the Andy and the boys. I am really excited to accomplish my goals of being healthy and finally getting this weight off. I want to be an example to my family and to my boys. Wish me luck and hopefully I can report more weight loss as time goes by.

first day of school

Today was Jay and Logan's first day back to school. They were so excited, Logan was even up at 6:45 and asking when we could leave for school. I was so happy that they were so excited to go. Jay had his backpack ready and on 1 hour before school. They are in the same class again this year and I wouldn't want it any other way. They are such a comfort to each other that the anxiety and fears seem to subside when they know that the other one will be there. I was very pleased with their teacher and think they will do great.

Grape Olympics

Well as most of you know we have been watching the Olympics faithfully around our house. The boys have really gotten into the spirit of them and came up with the grape Olympics. I walked into the room to find them seeing who could take the grapes of the stem the fastest. They were really into and quite proud of themselves. The Gold medal went to Logan. Jay was very happy to receive the Silver and they were so excited to tell us who received which medal.

This is the final result of the grape Olympics.stems and all.

Discovery Science Center

We took a trip to the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana and we had so much fun. We had never been there and they really have so many things for the kids to do. Andy and I were able to get into the fun. Bob the Builder is there right now and the boys had fun climbing on the tractors. It was a fun family outing. We always love to see how much Jay and Logan are interested in so many things. They love to ask questions and love to always get involved. Here are some of things that they were able to do.

We had to get a picture with "Scoop"

Jay and Logan were amazed at the Huge space shuttle. They really wanted to go inside.

Logan loved the rock wall and we went back many timesJay also loved the rock wall and he didn't want to leave.

They were able to put together dinosaur bones.

Summer Olympics!!!!!

The Summer Olympics have officially started. I am so excited. I love to watch them and see how amazing these athletes are and the love of the sports that they participate in. The drive and dedication of these athletes is amazing. I love sports and it makes me feel proud that these men and women are there representing our country doing something they love. I of course follow all the soccer games ( I have made enough room on our DVR to record every single one) Gymnastics is always amazing to watch and swimming. I will watch every sport but those are some of my favorite. I think that I secretly would of loved to be an Olympian. The next 17 days of TV are going to be fabulous and I can't wait.

I am going to see it again and it will defiantly be in my DVD collection. Don't be surprised if everyone is singing in the theater. I am still singing the songs.

4 year check up

Jay and Logan had their 4 year check up this past week and it went great. They did a great job answering all the questions and did a great job with the eye chart. They have actually warmed up to the staff at the office and love the nurses. Its always exciting for me to go to there yearly check up because I love to see how much they have grown.

*Jay is 49lbs and 44.5 inches tall

*Logan is 47lbs and 44.5 inches tall

They have each gained a pound and Jay has grown 3 inches and Logan has grown 2 inches. I really can't believe they are 4 and that they are getting so big. We had a good visit until the doctor left and I told them they had to have 2 shots. It all went down hill from there. They immediately went into panic mode and started to freak out.

Jay thought if he hid his arms she wouldn't do the shots!! Logan just kept staring at the wall in hopes that she wouldn't see him!!!

Happenings at the Carr house

I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I would just catch people up on some of the happenings at the Carr house. Jay and Logan have been keeping us super busy and we have been having so much fun. Every year when we get our tax return we try to take a small family vacation. This year we took the boys to Legoland and stayed in Carlsbad for 3 days. We had a blast and really enjoyed spending time as a family. (I lost my camera so no pics). Jay and Logan are very entertaining and really keep us laughing. We have truly been blessed with amazing kids. Andy is still continuing with school, he has one more quarter of regular classes and then one quarter of his capstone project. He is super excited to be almost done and so am I. I am so proud of him and think he is amazing.
After we returned home from our trip we welcomed our new nephew Tav. He is super cute, I am sure you have all seen the pictures and think the same. Andy and I had been feeling like things were really going good and that things were going to start happening for us (ie. moving into our own place, paying off bills) then we were dealt a big blow when Andy was suddenly laid off his job 2 weeks ago. We were shocked to say the least. This job had been going so well and Andy felt really great about it, he got along great with his co workers and they were very pleased with his performance, come to find out they laid off a lot of other people and they were making big budget cuts, so we took the hit. We are really bummed, but grateful to be living with my parents because we would really be sunk if we didn't. It has been a really blessing to live here and have their support. We have come to terms with the job loss, we don't have any other choice and we are making the best of it. Andy has really been flooding companies with his resume and has been talking to all his contacts. Hopefully now will be the time to get into the game industry and start his career. Wish us luck.
Andy celebrated his birthday on May 7. We had a fun day we just hung around and went to lunch. We tried to make his day special and really just enjoy our time together. He had school that night which was a bummer but what can you do. He turned the big 29. Happy Birthday babe. Jay and Logan will soon celebrate their 4th birthday on the 21st. I am still amazed at how time flies and that they will be 4. I can't believe it. They ask me everyday if it is their birthday and I have to tell the that it will be in x amount of wake ups. We are planning a small family birthday for them and they can't wait for their PEZ theme party. Yes, they love PEZ dispensers so it is truly fitting. So with everything happening and all the craziness, I am truly grateful for my family and friends. I am grateful for Heavenly Father hearing my prayers and for the blessing and trials, even though hard at the time, big lessons are learned and I am grateful for that.

Ok I was tagged by Katie so here goes

Time in high School: 1993-1997

Friends in High School: Debbie, Autumn, Chanda, Tami, Michelle, Melissa, Sarah, Jenny, Jen, ( its been a long time and some of them I don't even talk to anymore so I can't remember names)

Sports Played: I played Soccer all 4 years of high school. I love playing soccer and who really wants to take general PE. Yuck

What car did you drive: My brother was in high school with me my freshman and sophomore year so I just hitched a ride with him in our poop brown dodge lancer. It wasn't the most glamorous car but it did the job. The very first car was a Honda Prelude. It was the best car.

What did you do on Friday nights: Not much. Probably hung out with church friends and sat around until we found something to do. I was not into high school parties.

Did you ever get expelled or suspended: No, but I am really surprised that I didn't due to all the notes that I wrote myself and how many times I signed my moms name to important documents. Hey I have two older brothers that taught me well.

Can you sing the fight song: No I have no clue what it was.

Where did you sit at lunch time: In the quad, but I mostly went home for lunch

Your style in High School: Wet seal/ contempo, gap

Would you go back to High School: NO WAY. you couldn't pay me enough money to go back.

Did you get good grades: Yeah I did.

Year Graduated: 1997 It was a great day and I couldn't wait to get out of school.

I modified my tag a little I really didn't want to answer all those questions so I did my best

Andy and I recently celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary. I don't have any pics, but I just wanted to share a little about my loving husband and our wonderful life together. I have been really blessed since our union began on April 7, 2001. I know Andy was brought into my life by my loving Heavenly Father. Andy has been such a blessing to me and has made me a better person. He is my best friend and I couldn't imagine my life without him. We got to enjoy a really nice dinner out and then we went to Signal Hill and watched the sunset. We sat and really enjoyed the quiet and the beautiful sunset. I have learned so many things the last 7 years and we have been so blessed. I love you Andy. Here is to many more fabulous years!!!!!!

Bird Feeders, Park and More

We have been really busy around our house lately and have had many fun things going on. Jay and Logan started back to school after a fun spring break. We have had such a fun time having Porter and Phearson over the last couple of weeks. As you all know Autumn is due anytime now and she has had numerous doctors appts. and monitoring, so the boys have been able to come over and play with Jay and Logan. My mom and I have been trying to find some fun things for them to do. We made some fun pine cone bird feeders with peanut butter and oatmeal and sunflower kernels. It was so much fun to get messy and watch the boys roll there pine cones in all the stuff. We had lunch on the front lawn that day and after we hung them in the tree the boys were yelling for all the birds to come and eat, they made the cutest bird noises. We have also enjoyed many fun days at the park. We found a new park in Los Alamitos that I believe they have just redone and it has some awesome play equipment. My favorite part NO SAND!! It has wood chips which is much nicer. The boys and I have been spending a lot of time down by the beach. Andy has school 3 nights a week and so we try to keep ourselves busy. We go down to the Huntington Beach street fair on Tuesdays and enjoy all the fun music, food and always stock up on the yummy fruit and veggies. We love company so if anyone wants to join us please feel free. Our weeks have been so busy but we have had so much fun.

Another Funny Jay moment

OK, I totally cracked up this afternoon when I took Jay shopping with me. He wanted to go with me and needed some alone time with mommy ( I think he thought when I said shopping that I meant toys.) We headed over to the women's department to look for some capris. I went to go try them on and this is how the conversation went.

Mommy: I like these capris

Jay: Those are pretty

Mommy: Thanks Jay

Jay: Mommy those are pretty, pretty small.

Wow, I died laughing he thought he was so cool. We laughed for at least 5 minutes.
Jay and Logan hate to go shopping for clothes, I don't blame them they are 3 year old boys. Needless to say I don't think either child will be joining me on any shopping trips anytime soon.

Funny Prayers

As we all know 3 year olds can say some pretty funny things. We were saying prayer thee other night and this is how it went. Mind you we were having a rough couple of days with attitudes. I proceeded to say the prayer as normal and went on to say,

Mommy: please help Jay and Logan to have better attitudes

Jay: I won't have a better attitude

Mommy: Trying desperately not to laugh continued on with please help us to speak kindly

Logan: I don't want to speak kindly

Mommy: Closed the prayer and looked at Andy with a look of disgust on my face but also trying so hard not to laugh.

So needless to say we had a long talk on attitudes and speaking kindly and they have definitely improved.

Another funny situation. I was at the boys school for moms night and I was having a conversation with their teacher about the boys and how they love singing time. She said they always sings a song right before snack and then proceed with a little prayer. She asked me how we prayed at home. I told her what we do and she started to laugh. She told me that Jay and Logan tell her she is not saying the prayer right. ( They attend parkcrest preschool a christian school) She just says a simple prayer on the snack and says Amen, well Jay and Logan have been telling her that she has to say In the name of Jesus Christ Amen. We laughed and I felt a little bad, but also a little proud that they have been paying attention to how we taught them to pray.

The ER nightmare

Let me just start by saying the ER is an absolute joke. So Let me back up a few days, Jay has asthma that at times can be pretty bad. He has been struggling to breath for about 2 weeks now. I took him to the pediatricans office and they proceeded to give me a new inhaler and some antibiotics, (which jay promtly spits out all the time.) He just has continued to cough and struggle everyday, we had a follow up and then they gave me a steroid ( in pill form which was much easier.) He is still struggling. We put him to bed last night and he just kept getting up because when he would lay flat he couldn't breath, at about 12 it got so bad he couldn't even talk and was struggling so much that we made the decision to head off to the ER. We pull up to the ER and there are so many people there that I actually thought twice. ( I should of stuck with that instinct) We walk in and the nice lady at the desk ask what is wrong, like she can't tell from the constant coughing and him saying his chest hurts so bad. I proceed to tell her and she says have a seat we will call you shortly. Within minutes they call us back, I got a little excited I thought this wont be so bad. They listen to his chest and apparently think that he is passing air ok and send us back out. I thought ok, they will call us again soon. Well they did, only to have me sign papers and make sure they will get their money, as we walk back out to the waiting room I ask what are we supposed to do now. She says you now have to wait until the nurse calls you. So we wait some more. About 30 minutes later we hear our name over the loud speaker and get excited again to hopefully get this child a breathing treatment. We walk back there and the nurse says I just want to check his breathing again, Ok how many times must you check it before you just give the darn breathing treatment. Meanwhile jay had fallen asleep a little and when the lady put the very cold stethascope on his back he promptly told her to get that cold thing off his back. So back to the waiting room we go. ( can I just say the people in the waiting room are a trip, I think that some of them like to go there just to hang out.) It is now 2 plus hours into the ER experience and I decide to go ask when he might be seen, the stupid man behind the counter says well you have only been waiting for 2 plus hours, we have children that have been waiting for 7 plus hours, i think to myself I can take him to see his doctor in 7 hours. We waited about another hour and a half, by this time Jay had pretty much passed out from coughing so much and working so hard to breath, that we just decide to leave. I figured in 3 hours I will be able to call the doctor and he will be able to get in no problem. We tell them we are out of there and they make you sign your life away saying that they don't advise you to leave, but really give you no other choice, he tells me all the things to look out for with his breathing and that if he starts up again bring him back, ( yeah right like I would bring him back to only be put on the back on the bottom of the list) he told me that if he is struggling to breath that much again call 911 and they can bring him in and they will take it from there, Is that what it takes to be seen at the ER in a reasonable amount of time, give me a break. Ok so some of you may think that I may be impatient that you always have to wait at the ER. I know that you must wait a couple of hours but 7 plus I think that is so outrageous, and don't keep calling us back just to say hi and then promptly telling us to have a seat in the nasty waiting room . Isn't there a way to have an efficent system. Now I am just going to wait for the bill that I know they will be sending for us for sitting their for 4 hours. Needless to say I hate the ER. Next time I have to go you better believe the ambulance will take me there and hopefully I can be seen before the sun rises.

My Journey Update

Ok, I told you guys I would update you on my progress with my new toy. I know it is probally so boring for you guys, but it helps keep me on track. So I have found so much happiness in doing this journey. I don't ever feel deprived and feel in control for once. The armband really keeps me truthful and really keeps me moving. I have kept a very detailed food journal. I take about an hour every night to plan my meals for the next day and figure out all my calories, fat, carbs, fiber and protein. It takes awhile but I have really found that I really enjoy doing this. So the good news is I have lost 8 pounds. Yes 8 pounds in 4 weeks. I am so excited and can't wait to continue this journey. I will post again soon. Thanks for all your support. It helps me so much.

my new toy

This is my toy that I got for my birthday. I have been doing a lot of research on these fun little devices. For any of you who watch the biggest loser( my favorite show) they were these on their arms all the time. It is one of the most accurate accounts of calories burned out there. It measure all the calories burned 24/7. It takes all the guesswork out of losing weight. You count you calories that you take in and the bodybugg counts your calories burned. It also counts your steps and lots of other fun stuff. It helps to motivate you by showing you exactly what you have to burn and how far you have gone throughout the day. I look at it throughout the day and realize how much I need to do. I might go on a walk or kick my rear in gear at the gym. i have only had it a couple of days, so I will keep you updated on my progress. I am totally excited to start on this new journey. I have made a serious commitment and a resolve to finally change and be a success story. Wish me luck.
